Today’s Innovation City guest is Mikhaile Solomon, Founder and Director of the Prizm Art Fair, which promotes the work of contemporary artists from Africa and the global African Diaspora. Mikhaile received her BA in Theatre Arts from the University of South Florida and her Master’s of Architecture from Florida International University. She joins Innovation City to talk about some of her favorite contemporary artists, how Prizm provides a place for artists who can’t find representation, and how she works to challenge the exclusionary behaviors of art history.

“I was like, ‘Well, why doesn’t something like this exist? Why don’t I take it upon myself?’” — Mikhaile Solomon

Created and produced by SLAM! Agency in conjunction with Venture Cafe St. Louis and Venture Cafe Miami, Innovation City gives you an inside look at how rapidly business and culture are changing thanks to increasing diversity and inclusion, heightened creativity, and a stronger and better-connected business community. New York City Locations – Artists, Poets & Ghostbusters

A personal tour of lower Manhattan New York and a visit to some iconic New York locations. Visiting some of the NYC places that seemed so glamorous and exotic in my youth.

Ranging from the Ghostbusters fire station in lower Manhattan to the famous Chelsea Hotel.

During the walk around New York it was interesting to see how many of these iconic places were now quite boring coffee shops and cafes.
Although New York is so much safer and cleaner than it was I hope it won’t lose its character and become full of dull, hipster hangouts just the same as so many other cities.

Saying that, it was the first time we stayed in Lower Manhattan and did love this area of NYC and would definitely stay there again.

I did also pass Casey Neistat’s studio, 368 Broadway but was too embarrassed to film as I was at least 30 years older than the kids hanging around on skateboards.

Apologies for saying “In the building behind me’ so much……..
