My top 10 places to eat in Zürich like Haus Hiltl, world’s oldest vegetarian restaurant, Da Capo for its incredible juicy steaks, famous Widder Bar and fine dining at some of the fanciest places in the biggest city in Switzerland.

Photos & Map:

Kick off your food adventure in biggest city of Switzerland by renting a bike to easily get around town. Start at the magical pool & bar Seebad Enge in the middle of lake Zürichsee.

For brunch I highly recommend dropping by Haus Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world founded in 1898. Now, I am far from becoming vegetarian but after eating here I could easily switch to a vegetarian lifestyle for the rest of my life.

The best view of the city can either be enjoyed from the Lindenhof or the rooftop of the Widder Hotel of which you can easily see the 3 iconic churches of Zürich; Grossmünster, Fraumünster and St Peter.

Over 100 food stands and trucks selling a host of culinary delicacies from all over the world regularly come together to take part in the Street Food Festival and takes place during the second week of September. Go in the evening to mingle with the locals and get to know the city customs.

After returning your bike head over for drinks at the Widder Bar, the largest whisky bar in Zurich and total laidback atmosphere. Try the crazy pineapple cocktail, that is one heavy drink!

Another great place for dinner and drinks is the 25hours Hotel, a laidback spot on the west-side of Zurich. Make sure to try their magnificent hummus.

In conclusion, Zurich can be a very expensive city, it is considered the MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE WORLD, the places we ate at were pricey but places like the Street Food Festival are the cheaper alternatives and you still get a good impression of the Swiss food culture.

Eating Live Octopus in Korea

Eating Live Octopus in Korea

Noryangjin fish market is a popular fisheries market south of the Seoul city center in Korea where my Korean friend and I sat down to eat an entire living octopus, it was quite creepy while the entire octopus moved around in my mouth. Subscribe to my channel ► for weekly videos!

We were hunting for some quality Sannakji (live octopus) because one of the reasons I came to Korea was to try eating a whole live octopus.

Eating Sannakji can be very dangerous if you do not chew enough. If you swallow the octopus to early it could suck onto your throat with its suctioncups and you would be unable to breath. There are reports of people dying while eating Sannakji due to suffocation.

The Tokyo Snake Center is the latest animal cafe in Harajuku with a wide range of incredible snakes which you can hold and play with while enjoying a warm cup of coffee.

Map & Address:

Follow me: @reformatt

The entrance fee is 1000 yen ($8 USD) per person which includes a drink and a glass box with a snake of your liking.

No worries, none of the snakes at this cafe are poisonous and are quite harmless but taking photos with flash is not allowed.

It is important to wash your hands after handling your snake especially if you decide to eat food, due to possible bacteria & salmonella.

Did you know that snakes kill 100,000 people every year and some snakes can live up to 1 year without food.

18 Secrets & Best Places in Bern, Switzerland

18 Secrets & Best Places in Bern, Switzerland

These are my 18 hidden secrets, things to do & best places to visit for Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Bern is not the first place you think of when planning a trip to Europe but let me tell you, Bern is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to.

My Bern Travel guide with tips, secrets, maps, addresses and photos:

Kick off Bern with a refreshing jump in the Aare river which flows at speeds up to 13 km per hour while you hold onto your airbag containing your clothes.

For lunch I recommend grabbing a bite at a patio on the Barenplatz downtown Bern loaded with adorable little restaurants and bars.

Kramgasse is the main shopping street with a gorgeous view on the Zytglogge clocktower, the photos simply don’t do this place justice.

Bern is well known for being the residence of Professor Einstein, you can visit his original apartment on the Kramgasse. This is also the same place where Einstein came up with the formula E=MC2.

For a fun evening grab a couple of beers at Antonio’s Bar & Cafe next to the Zytglogge. I ended up playing a fun game called Corridor with some of the locals and met a couple of friendly girls from Zurich.

In conclusion, Bern is a great summer destination for a pit-stop during a road trip through the Swiss Alps. Due to its small size, 2 days is sufficient to see the entire city. Happy travels!

Have a safe journey!
